Think of the filter system as the
"heart" &"kidneys" of your pool. They move the water & filter all of the dirt & debris that get into it. Filter systems from
Sta-Rite® and
Hayward®
do a great job in accomplishing those 2 important tasks.
What's the difference between Sand, Cartridge & DE?
Sand: Good, easy, overall filtration. Filters particles down to about 28--40 microns.
Cartridge: Better, easy filtration. Uses a permanent fiber media. No Backwashing. Just rinse the cartridge & reassemble the filter. Filters particles down to about 15--20 microns.
DE or Diatomaceous Earth: Best filtration. Requires a bit more care & maintenance. Delivers great water clarity. Filters particles down to about 5--10 microns.
What's best for you? That's a personal preference. Our personal recommendation is Cartridge. You get the best of all worlds, with usually less work. Check your local zoning regulations. Some municipalities "strongly recommend" cartridge, due to the backwashing and environmental issues.
One last thing. Don't get yourself caught up in the "more horsepower is better" thinking. Cars, yes. Pools, no. Why? First, you can only move so much water through your hoses at one time. Second, slower moving water allows the filter to trap more debris without being "forced through" the filter medium. Thirdly, why pay a larger electric bill? Sound reasonable?

Heaters. Why heat your pool? Why not get the most out of your pool by extending the season? A properly sized heater will give you the comfort you need at an efficient & effective price. Our recommendation is a Natural Gas or LP Propane heater.
Why? They're relatively simple to install, are efficient to operate & just do a great job! Our preference of heater brands is either Sta-Rite® or Raypak®. For Inground & Aboveground Pools. For more information, just click on their respective logos below.
Another option is Solar Heating.
