To Convert Your Pool from Baquacil®,
Revacil®,
Splashes®,
Poly Clear®
or Soft Swim®
to Chlorine:
Ask yourself Why you are converting. Unfortunately many people convert without addressing other issues that may have been the true culprit. Biguanides are great products when used according to the instructions given by your pool care professional.
Over the past 4 or 5 years Biguanides have received a "bum rap" because of discounters selling the product to pool-owners who shouldn't be using it in the first place. If you're not sure or money is a major issue, call us first before proceeding
Be sure filter has been operating a minimum of 12 hours continuously & will be in continuous operation during the conversion period
Make sure your
"B" or Baquacil® (now referred to as Biguanide level) level is 20.0 ppm
Neutralize left over Biguanide using 1 lb of Burn Out ®
Extreme or Oxysheen® per 5,000 gallons. Water will become cloudy
Add similar dosage of Burn Out®
Extreme or Oxysheen® daily until water clears and remains clear
Retest Chlorine or Bromine. Level should be 1.0 ppm before continuing
If heavy metals are present (iron, copper or manganese) add 1 bottle of BioGuard® Pool Magnet to neutralize metals
Add proper dosage of Stabilizer 100 to achieve a cyanuric acid level of 40 ppm
Add 8 oz. BioGuard® Back Up Algicide per 8,000 gallons
Add 1 Smart Stick® to skimmer per about 8,000 gallons, allow filter to circulate overnight
Adjust pH, Total Alkalinity & Calcium Hardness to proper levels
After 1 week of operation, chemically clean filter with Soft Swim® Filter Cleaner
Before, during and after the conversion process, bring in a one quart sample of the pool water for a complete BioGuard Testing and Analysis.
To Make Your
Chlorine Experience Fantastic, add
Optimizer Plus® to create a level of 30 ppm to 50 ppm. Using Optimizer® Plus will significantly reduce your Smart Stick® consumption and provide the wonderful, soft feel that is associated with biguanide treated pools.
