Starting or Converting a Spa or Hot tub to Pristine Blue®

Drain & Start with fresh water

Special note: If your spa has been operational or NOT operational for any period of time, we strongly recommend treating the spa FIRST with a spa plumbing cleaner such as Spa System Flush, Spa Purge, Swirl Away or AquaFinesse SpaCleaner. Cleaning the plumbing lines gets rid of stuff hiding in those concealed places where bacteria & problems hide & breed. For more information about bio-films, please read this information.

First Day - ALWAYS USE THE MEASURING CUP WHEN ADDING PRODUCTS!

Start with a clean spa.
For improved results, use the Pristine Fill pre-filter to remove mineral & other contaminants before they get in your spa.
KNOW THE SPA’S VOLUME. Almost all “problems” arise from the fact that spa owners don’t know the proper gallonage of their ho tub.

Make sure the water is in balance. Water balance in a Pristine Blue® spa is a little different than in most spas. Maintain these Pristine Blue® levels for the best in product effectiveness and efficiency. The levels you need to attain are:
pH - 7.2 to 7.6
Total Alkalinity – 50 to 90 ppm (this is the most important difference)
Calcium Hardness – 175 to 275 ppm
SpaGuard® Water Balancers and SpaGuard® Cleaners such as pH Increaser, Decreaser, Total Alkalinity Increaser, Spa Sentry, Calcium Hardness Increaser are 100% compatible with Pristine Blue®. All cleaners & accessory chemicals such as Spa Silken are also 100% compatible.

DO NOT CONTINUE UNTIL THE WATER IS BALANCED!

Add 10 milliliters of Pristine Check® per 100 gallons of water. Circulate 2 to 4 hours.

Shock with 5 milliliters of Pristine Extra® per 100 gallons. Circulate 2 to 4 hours.

Clean the Filter thoroughly.

Add 5 milliliters of Pristine Blue® per 100 gallons of water. Run filter one hour.

After each use of the spa, shock with (2 oz) of Pristine Power per 500 gallons.

For information on Converting a Biguanide (BaquaSpa® or Soft Soak®) Spa to Pristine Blue®, DRAIN THE WATER

Important Note: DO NOT ADD ANY PRISTINE BLUE FOR THE NEXT 2 (TWO) WEEKS. MAINTAIN pH 7.2 TO 7.6. After 2 weeks, check Pristine Blue® level and top-up as needed.

Continue with regular Pristine Blue® Maintenance.

Every two weeks:

Balance the water.
Total Alkalinity 30-90 ppm (DO NOT allow the Total Alkalinity to go over this level)
pH 7.2-7.6
Test PristineBlue® (copper) level and add PristineBlue® according to the chart below.

Add 5 milliliters of Pristine Clean® per 100 gallons of spa water. (2 oz. per 500 gallons)

Add 5 milliliters of Pristine Clear® per 100 gallons of spa water. (2 oz. per 500 gallons)

Every Month:

Shock with 5 milliliters of Pristine Extra® per 100 gallons.

Spray the underside of your spa or hot tub cover with Pristine Mist to prevent odor & discoloration

PLEASE NOTE: All Pristine Blue® Spa treatment additions are in MILLILITERS not ounces. Use the measuring cup that came with your start up kit.
