IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE:  Many states (including, but not limited to Connecticut, New York, Florida, North & South Carolina, California) & municipalities across the United States have mandated that All new pool installations including a bottom main drain must be installed as a set of 2 main drains, installed in-tandem (not as 2 separate drains using 2 separate lines), 3 ft apart from each other (on edge) AND a separate Vacuum Release System (VRS) installed as an integral part of the swimming pool circulation system.  These new rules are for the protection of pool owners & pool users for the prevention of injury or even death due to entrapment & disembowelment. Pools without main drains but sidewall suctions must also include a VRS.  You must check with your local building officials for local code mandates. 
Par Pool & Spa will only sell main drains as a set of 2, effective March 10, 2008.
